Horticulture
Lawson Park
For a week in August 2024 I was a ‘gardener as artist’-in-residence at Lawson Park in the Lake District. Lawson Park is the HQ of Grizedale Arts, one of the UK’s leading rural contemporary arts organisations.
Me, Land Artist Samuel Collins and Food Artist Daniela Natale assisted Filmmaker and Head Gardener Karen Guthrie prepare the wet, mountainous site for open-weekend. Scything the meadow and sowing pioneer yellow rattle was a highlight. I wrote a blog for their website about my experience, entitled ‘Magic at Lawson Park’. I left with a renewed sense of horticulture’s creativity.

Karen has a wide range of influences: Piet Oudolf, Great Dixter, John Little and Walt Disney!
