Realm of Ruin

Realm of Ruin (2017) was an exhibition and dining experience at the back of a local shopping arcade in Peckham, South London.

It was a collaboration with ceramic artist Bryony Rose. Her work was presented as a magical land of overgrown carts and castles for the visitor to explore interactively.  Drawing on fantasy gaming, the picturesque and Dario Gamboni’s ‘The Destruction of Art’ (1997), Realm of Ruin questioned Briton’s obsession with the past and suggests an escape without succumbing to patriarchal mythologies.

A dining experience in the ‘realm’ raised money to cover production costs. Pickles and preserves, dishes inspired by the works and historical recipes were served to diners in the candlelit gallery space. All the ingredients were foraged or rescued from waste.

The majority of work sold.
