Reverberations

Reverberations (13 - 24 September 2021) was a project about noise and sound art in the digital age. Curated by MA Curating and Collections students at UAL, it squatted unconventional exhibition spaces (pirate radio and email newsletters) to examine how contemporary distribution networks open out the possibility for subversive acts.

Reverberations responded to an exhibition archived in the UAL Special Collections, Her Noise (2005) which explored music and sound histories in relation to gender. Reverberations brought this mission into 2021 by investigating the precarity of London’s DIY culture from an intersectional perspective.

I co-produced one of the project’s four polyphonic strands. Sound Check investigated the future of DIY culture within sound systems. Featuring: Cairo Clarke, Nzinga Sounds, Black Obsidian Sound System, Shalika Walters, NTS’ Anu Ambasna, Ora Ataguba of Sable Radio amongst others.
